Anode is a key component in cathodic protection system. Iron-based anode, aluminum-based anode, platinum-based anode and tantalum-plated platinum anode are widely used. However, the former has a short service life and needs frequent replacement, while the latter is expensive and rare. Graphite, high silicon iron and lead silver alloy have also been used as anode materials.
